JESTERS

a division of Sumter Players, Inc.


The JESTERS program was designed in 1997 by Sumter Players, Inc. in Americus, Georgia. It is a theatre ensemble which focuses on the works of Shakespeare. It is open to any 8th to 12th grade student in Sumter County and the surrounding area.

Its goals are:
* To serve area youth and offer educational opportunities in theatre.

* To tap into the talent resources of the young community to ensure the future of the community theatre now in its 39th Season.

On Friday, May 16, 2003, at 7:00 pm and Saturday, May 17, 2003, at 2:00 and 7:00 pm the Sumter Players Jesters present:

The Jesters' own version of Shakespeare's comedy suggested by "Kiss Me, Kate".

On Thursday, May 9, 2002, for one performance only, the Sumter Players Jesters presented:

A "faithful" rendition of Shakespeare's original play, written and staged entirely by the Jesters!

For those of you who missed either of these productions, watch this space for information on how you may be able to purchase the video! It'll be a must for any Shakespeare collection!

On Saturday, March 24, 2001, for two performances only, the Sumter Players Jesters presented: MACBETH LITE! All the blood, gore, lust and greed of Shakespeare's original play, with only half the fat and calories!
